Bio
I have a formal education in philosophy (BA and MSc), and I have specialised, during my Ph.D., in logic within theoretical computer science. My primary research focus is on formalising socio-cognitive phenomena in computational environments, with an emphasis on computational trust and ignorance.
I presented my research at various international venues covering topics such as thereotical computer science, logic and philosophy. Among the conferences I participated in there is the IFIP International Conference on Trust Management, which is considered the prime conference in computational trust.
I have published 19 peer-reviewed articles, most of which involved formalising different aspects of trust in specific scenarios. My work has appeared in prestigious journals like the Journal of Logic and Computation and the International Journal of Approximate Reasoning. Among my publications, two single-authored papers focusing on the plausibility of implementing trust systems online were featured in Foundations of Science and the proceedings of SEFM, a conference on software engineering and formal methods.
My work allowed me to do multiple academic visits in prestigious research groups. In 2017, I was a visiting research fellow at the University of Oslo, under professor Audun Josang, working of trust used as a security tool. In 2023 and 2024, I also completed two research visits in Agata Ciabattoni's group, where I was introduced to the topic of deontic logics.
I supervised seven master's students both in philosophy and computer science.
From 2022 to 2025, I have designed and taught one bachelor's course (Introduction to Computer Science) at the University of Verona and two master's courses (Algorithms and Data Structures & Software Engineering) at the University of Urbino.
In 2019, I organised the symposium of the Italian Society for Logic and Philosophy of Science at the 16th International Congress of Logic, Methodology and Philosophy of Science and Technology. In 2018, I organised a special session at the 21st International Conference on Information Fusion at the University of Cambridge. From 2017 to 2024, I have been one of the main organisers of the Summer School in Epistemology at the University of Urbino, featuring prominent academics (among whom ERC grant awardees) and reaching as many as 60 participating students. I was also the leading local organiser at the 2023 SILFS triennial conference in Urbino, which featured 150 participants.
Finally, I played a foundational role in the design and research aspects of the Erasmus+ project OBEC (One Block for Educational Credentials, grant agreement number: 2020-1-SE01-KA204-077803), which received the Seal of Good Practice upon completion.
